Update: Hours after posting this, Juana came to our home. She wanted to cut some plant in our back yard called Lemon Tea Plant. It is for coughs/colds (gripe, pronounced /gree-pay/). She explained the rains came through her house by means fromn up the hill from them t about a foot deep or so, Then their dirt floor was a mud floor all night, and they have coughs now. She continued to explain how they slip-slide over the floor and slept in one bed because of the conditions. – Pray as we work on getting our base set up to provide this family and countless others with affordable, better homes to live in not only with the solid foundation of concrete, but of the teaching of Jesus Christ! – thank you.

Through friends here in Guatemala, we were introduced to the Pocon Family in 2007. We have had much joy in loving on them and witnessing to them the love of Jesus Christ and we’ll continue to do so. Juana (lower left front in photo) helped us full-time when we were volunteer hosts for a mission house. She was not hired on past that year. So she comes and helps Jackie with the floors bi-weekly allowing for some income as well as much needed help for us. We both enjoy the fellowship.
When we see Juana, we ask her how she and the family are doing. We pray and if we are able, help out with their needs. Food, vitamins, and various medicines are given as we have them. Please continue to pray for us to receive financial support monthly, so we can do these much needed blessings to the Pocon family and others. We still are way below our estimated monthly budget (we are evaluating it to get a specific number). If God is leading you, please consider answering the call to join the mission and give monthly. Some weeks, we have to tell Juana we cannot use her because we do not have the funds to pay her (about the price of one combo meal at a fast food restaurant).
If you feel led to pray for their family, please keep these in mind:
- Juana’s health, she’s been dealing with off and on stomach pains since we’ve met her, we’ve helped her with money to see a doctor and get medicines, but to date, nothing has helped.
- Snakes are now being found in their home since the rains have resumed, their home is lamina (metal siding with old wood studs) and on our list to build once our operations are running
- Her granddaughter Evelyn’s head continues to heal, we were able to give her a medicated shampoo for scalp problems
- Her son-in-laws and daughters want good, stable, paying jobs, they are workers but jobs are few or temporary
Thank you for reading this, one of many relationships we’re building for the kingdom. With each person we share the love of Jesus and the Salvation through Him, we can reach many. Keep praying as we are Sharing His Plan in Guatemala. Your love, prayers, and financial support are all an investment in eternity.
